Day 75

We didn’t sleep very well – it’s hot and the bar didn’t stop their music until 1am. I truly am considering if we are not too old for hostels.

We spend the morning lazy-ing in bed, chit chatting and planning along with a long breakfast in the hostel balcony ( this is nice ). 10h30 am arrives faster than I though and we made our way to the main square in search of the Dino bus to bring us to the Parque Cretacico which is said to have the largest collection of dinosaur footprints in the world.

The bus is a double decker full on dino decorations – unmissable. The journey goes uphill for about 30min in the tired bus and we get a view of the outskirt of Sucre, which is a lot less nice and feels more impoverished. Constructions are of bricks but without any pain on it or some form of outer layers. Plain red bricks and cement joints with dust.

I read that the footprints were found in a quarry – but I didn’t expect the museum to be inside an actual cement factory, the quarry actually belongs to! The footprints are on an 80-degree massive wall and the museum is facing the opposite. In the middle of these two walls, the hole that used to be exploited.

It’s a super small museum and if you don’t get to come during the guided visit at 12 and 13:00, I wouldn’t recommend visiting at all. The guided tours are in English and Spanish and bring you right by the footprints wall. Plus, the guide really explains the types of dinosaurs for each footprint. It’s quite interesting. The entire visit takes from bus at 11 am until arriving back in Sucre around 2pm.

We decided to eat at a nicer restaurant called La Posada, and were pleasantly surprised with a very affordable lunch menu in (again) a very nicely decoration inner patio attached to a fairly fancy colonial style hotel.

After this, we go back for a nap in our hostel and we arrived just on time. Not even 10min later than a massive rain just started and lasted almost the entire afternoon.

It’s alright, I got a good book and so does Alexis. We spend the afternoon indoor.

Evening got our stomach grumbling and Alexis finds a nice Churrasceria a few blocks away. At first when we arrive we are a little worried. It looks like you enter somebodies’ home and at the back of the garden there are a few tables. We are the only ones. A waitress arrives, take our order and we are just surprised by the quantity of meat we get for what was a 2 pax portion! There was at least 500g of (delicious) meat. A really good value little family restaurant that doesn’t look like much from the outside. I recommend.
