Our last day in Latin America
We wake up late and stay lazy in bed. The sky is grey and still menacing but the wind is gone.
We walk around for a café to get breakfast, then rest some more in the room until it's time to check out.
The wind has picked up and we get some good gust on our way to the touristic bus station. From there, there are bus to Cancun airport every 20min. We barely have to wait 5min that we get into one. I thought it would be a good 2 hours’ drive, but barely 1h later, we arrive.
That means at least 7hours before our flight. We have lunch in the restaurant there and find a corner to sit and wait. I didn't mind this so much and I had enough good news article to read that I didn't see the time fly. Alexis just walked around, he can't stay still.
Hurricane Milton has gotten stronger again and is still a category 5. Almost all flights to the US have been cancelled and the airport is fairly quiet.
We are among the first to queue when the check in opens and we go through security in a breeze. I am surprised that there is no immigration. But the check in staff did take our little slip of paper that we received when we came into the country. I guess that must be enough.
I had already checked, there is a Maison Kayser in the air side of this airport, and we head there for a last Pan de muertos and a hot chocolate. Because it's delicious and that makes a good tea time snack. The only thing left to do is wait for our boarding now.
I am worried about my ear and hope that there will only be some pain at takeoff and landing but not throughout the flight. It's very uncomfortable as it is now. I am looking forward being healed.
