Galapagos: Eagle rays and more hammerheads
We dive 4 times in Wolf today. The first 2 dives are stationary, and we enjoy shark highway, never ending hammerhead sharks.
The third dive was pretty good, we went back to the first site with the strong currents of yesterday. The attempt was to see eagle rays again. And we got so lucky a big one just stayed with us the entire time, circling around, above and in front of us. We got to see it up close. Of course, hammerheads, massive groupers and lots of reef fish were around. The current and surge were just as bad so we didn't move too much on this dive and were quite relieved to be up.
The last dive was in a sea cavern and we saw a lot of turtles, marble rays, shrimps and I saw a lobster. As we were exiting, a sea lion came to play with us. There were hammerheads in the shallow waters too ( at 5m!). A great little shallow dive, the surge was still quite tough to manage at the safety stop.
As I went to put our swimsuit to dry at the front of the boat, dolphins were jumping and playing!
I am still amazed at how full of life the Galapagos islands are, wherever you look something is happening!
