From the Galapagos to Quito
Quito street
We disembark early off the Aggressor and we were at the airport by 9 am.
We more or less are all dispatched on 3 different flights. There aren’t that many from Baltra anyway. Pablo has a Priority pass and he can get both me and Alexis into the lounge for free. He was so kind to offer it to us. The other of our group had some form of status or access with their credit cards and we ended up all chilling in the surprisingly big lounge of this tiny airport. Most of our flight were after 11 am, so that was a great way to continue the holiday mood.
Our flight left on time, but the one from half of our group was delayed by one hour. We had no issue to reach Quito. The only thing was that I didn’t get back my “land-leg” and I still felt like I was wobbly on my feet the whole day.
Quito airport is very modern and super-efficient, finding the Uber pick up point was extremely easy and we just were out of there in a breeze. It’s however 45min away from Quito itself, and we appreciate the view of the valleys and hills we drive through. The weather is gloomy and changing – sometimes a little drizzle, then a ray of sunshine.
We are very tired by the time we arrive at our hostel. We haven’t had a meal since 6am in the morning ( the tiny snacks at the lounge didn’t really count ) – and we end up at the local chippy. The French fries were exceptional – I was very surprised and wasn’t expecting this at all !
The hostel I booked is also perfect, it has a private garden at the back, it’s quiet without any form of bars blasting music. And the receptionist was so kind. They broadcasted the soccer match last night in the common room ( Argentina – Ecuador ) and we could hear everyone cheering. We are down in bed by that time – totally spent.
