Day 217

Another day of diving for us today. We start a little later than usual because 5 snorkelers are joining us from the huge cruise ship that just docked this morning.

The first dive is serene, absolutely no current. We spot the same things as before, huge lobsters, trunk fishes and beautiful coral gardens. The second dive had just the right amount of current to gently drift. We dive along a wall, or the top of it mostly, alternating between the crest, the lower part and towards the end we drift along the rocks and sandy parts at the top.

We saw a lot of crabs, shrimps and lobster on this second dive. We also spotted a sleeping nurse shark under its rock.

During the surface interval, since we had snorkelers with us, they did it at a site called stingray city. An expanse of shallow water where stingrays were swimming around. We saw them better from the boat, they swim fast and are not fed by the boats. And because of this, they are probably not “de-stinged” like in some touristic spots, and it could be dangerous.

The afternoon is spend lazy in the hammock reading books. The rain came later, almost at night. As I go to bed, I can feel that my right ear is hot, and I think it might be the beginning of an infection. Let’s see how it evolves after a good night sleep.

A great day in Cozumel again.
