A complete day in the bus to Trujillo
Desertic roadside
It's getting colder. Winter is coming!
It's a full day bus to Trujillo and we get an uber to Cruz Del Sur station in the morning. There is a light drizzle outside and the weather is pretty grey. Hopefully as we go north and to the equator, we will get some sunnier and warmer climate.
I am looking forward wearing slippers again.
The road from Lima to Trujillo along the Pan-America is honestly ugly and uninteresting. Every time I watch by the window it’s sand dunes and decrepit buildings.
Clear blue sky does slowly make an appearance as we go north so that a positive.
Trujillo seems to have some safety concerns but when we arrive there in the early evening it doesn’t look bad at all. The first impression of the city is that its city center is cleaner than Lima’s and there are more colors. A few buildings are painted blue, yellow or a warm brown. I think during the day it will be pretty.
We have a quick diner in the next door Chifa, which is the Peruvian Chinese fusion style of restaurant. Frankly it’s not great, mostly fried rice and too sweet dishes. I would rank it at the same level as cheap Chinese in Europe. Hopefully we will try another one and it will be better.
The hostel is one of Alexis’s pick ( I have been outsourcing some of the last minute research to him ) and it’s an excellent choice. It’s quiet and has a beautiful rooftop terrace. There is a bar, but you can tell that it’s hardly use anymore, and we escape the loud music !
It might have been a fairly comfortable 12hours bus ride, we are still tired.
